MONDAY 02/06/2012 - PEER REVIEW #1 + STRUCTURE OF ARGUMENTS

  • PEER REVIEW WORKSHOP #1
  1. On your blog, post a few questions/concerns you have about your draft. These will serve as additional focus points for your peer reviewer and for the instructor.
  2.  Each person has a copy of the written work. The writer reads aloud. The listener has a pen or pencil in hand to make quick marks showing immediate responses (but don’t try to explain them during the reading!).
    •  ____    Make a straight line under or beside words or sections that work well.
    •  ~~~     Draw a wavy line under or beside words/sections that are problematic.
    •  ? ? ?     Put a “?” in the margin by something you have a question about.
    • After the writer finishes reading, take a couple of minutes to look back through your marks and write brief comments explaining
      • what worked well
      • what was problematic
      •  what your question was
    • Spend a few minutes looking into the author's posted questions and respond to the author's concerns on their blog, discussing the comments you've made.
    • Give the paper with written comments to the writer.
    • AT HOME, REVIEW ANOTHER PEER'S PAPER USING THE HANDOUT!
